Tinnitus Explained
Tinnitus Research
Tinnitus research is one way of dealing with the ringing in the ears. Just like in any condition, knowledge about it is necessary. We can start by asking ourselves what do we really know about tinnitus.
Does it end in the simple knowledge that it is a buzzing or ringing sound we hear in our ears?
The answer should be, No.
When we happen to have the unwanted sound, we surely do a tinnitus research on how to get rid of it. But what we should know is that there is no cure for it, but there are treatments that would make it bearable. And more often than not, these treatments are applied according to the cause of tinnitus.
Now, we ask what its causes are. Let us start with the less worrisome ones: hearing loss related to age and exposure to loud noise for a long period of time. The thing to worry about more is that it could be caused by some medical conditions and diseases.
Tinnitus Causes
This could be due to ear infection, injury in the head or neck, Meniere's disease, hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, anemia, atherosclerosis, and malformation of the capillaries. Also, the use of certain medications for a long period of time, the most common example of which is aspirin, is one of the causes.
Since tinnitus is treated in relation to its cause, it is important that we know what has caused it, although there are instances when the cause is not determined. Either way, let us know what are the treatments that might work for you. You may opt to use electronic devices such as maskers and hearing aids.
How do tinnitus masker's work?
The maskers help in making the ringing noise less noticeable by producing a sound, commonly white noise, which is more pleasant to hear. Sufferers who have difficulty sleeping often use these.
The hearing aids, on the other hand, magnify the sound in the wearer's environment, hence, his or her attention will be focused on the background sound instead of the bothersome noise.
To deal with stress and depression, there are patients who use the conventional medication such as antidepressants. However, these are reported to have side effects – drying of the mouth, blurring of the vision, and constipation.
Free of side effects, alternative treatments such as herbal and homeopathic preparations, acupressure, acupuncture and reflexology are being used by many.
Along with the information on tinnitus research are the natural tinnitus treatments. These are the practical remedies to reduce the ringing in the ears.
One is avoiding the triggering agents such as salty foods, alcohol, and nicotine. Also, avoid getting stressed as it worsens the unwanted noise.
Dear Ellen,
The ear ringing in my left ear is almost gone. I am a sceptical person especially when it come's to homeopathic treatments but this tinnitus treatment really seems to be working for me.
I have been taking the tinnitus treatment for about 2 months now and some days when im highly stressed it comes back. However for the last week i have been able to do what i want without any limitations.
I have also been following a healthy diet which includes eating plenty fruit's and vegetables and drinking gallon's of water. Although I have had to cut back on my dairy intake because that seems to trigger it and also stopped drinking coffee all-together.
I would like to Thank you and let you know that I truely appreciate everything that you have done for me.
Robert Dempsey
